Former Rivers State Governor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has criticized ex-Governor Peter Odili for his recent remarks stating that he (Wike) sought to turn Rivers State into his personal property.

Speaking at an event in Port Harcourt, Wike recounted his contributions to Odili during his tenure as governor, including the construction of a mansion for the former leader.

Wike said; “When I was governor, I personally contacted Julius Berger to build a mansion for Odili. He used to show it off proudly, calling people to see what I had done for him. He said I had shown him love and took visitors around the house.”

Wike expressed disappointment with Odili’s comments comparing the achievements of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, who has been in office for less than a year, to his eight-year administration.

“You spent eight years as governor, and someone who hasn’t even spent a year is being said to have surpassed your record. What kind of elder statesman talks like that?” Wike questioned.

He further accused Odili of removing his pictures, once prominently displayed in the former governor’s home.

“My pictures were everywhere in Odili’s house living room, bedroom, kitchen, even the toilet. But now, all the pictures have been taken down,” Wike lamented.

The feud between the two political heavyweights highlights lingering tensions within the Rivers State political landscape.
