Nigerian singer, K.O.P has cried out to Nigerians how policemen in Lagos harassed and extorted him of the sum of N35,000 (Thirty Five Thousand Naira).

He took to his Instagram page to lament as he shared a video of another victim being harassed by the same set of policemen while he also shared receipt of the N35,000 extortion.

He wrote; “I WAS STOPPED AND HARASSED AGAIN BY THE POLICE FOR NO REASON 😭😭 (2nd time in 3days).”

“After the first incident where they searched my phone without my permission or any legal warrant, took me to the station, humiliated me and extorted 35k from me, I garnered some courage to go out yesterday and my ride was stopped by the exact same criminals that call themselves police officers.”

“I stood quietly as they started harassing the bolt driver…. I was almost going to record with my phone camera but just in case they’d search my phone for pictures or videos, I used IG live and recorded till one of them walked towards me and seized my phone.”

“Thankfully the video was saved on Instagram but not in my gallery and when they searched saying “I hope you didn’t record us or take pictures”, they found nothing.”

“2 of them recognized me from their first harassment on Sunday and then said “WE KNOW YOU NA, YOU BE OUR PERSON… WE RECOGNIZE YOU ANYWHERE” I was so angry, scared, traumatized and honestly, for a few seconds, I couldn’t breathe or move.”

“My offence according to them on Sunday was having a mutually enjoyed sexual conversation with another consenting adult on WhatsApp. (Yes they invaded my privacy and violated my rights as a human being and Citizen of Nigeria.).”

“The second slide shows the receipt of the 35k they took from me before they released me on Sunday after almost 2hrs of emotional and mental torture.”

“The bolt guy wasn’t letting them have any peace. He had all his documents yet they kept threatening him for no reason. One kept saying “I have a gun oo, No try me oo”….just imagine 😭😭”

“The past few days have been very traumatic for me. I’m scared to go out, I can’t sleep, every moment is frightening and I’m not sure I know what to do.”

“Something has to be done… Please tag as much people as you can. THE NIGERIAN POLICE FORCE @nigeriapoliceforce @nigerianpoliceforce have traumatized us enough.”
