The detention of Dr. Reuben Abati, ex-aide of former President Goodluck Jonathan by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has taken another dimension. Insiders at the EFCC squealed to us that the top journalist who had earlier promised to refund N5 million out of the N50 million he allegedly collected from the Dasukigate arms money is now singing a new song.
Our sources added that he is now saying that he has no such money to refund to the Federal Government of Nigeria or EFCC because he has shared the money in cash and gifts to journalists in Nigeria.
