There have been reports that the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi offered a whopping sum of N40 billion to his counterpart in the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso to step down for him.

The rumour gained momentum after the Director-General of the Labour Party (LP) Presidential Campaign Council, Doyin Okupe, weeks ago, announced that the party was in talk with Kwakwaso and other stakeholders of the NNPP for possible alliance.

However, reacting to the rumour, Peter Obi on Monday, November 21st, 2022, said; “I never knowingly or unknowingly offered anybody money to become president. In all my talks with Kwankwaso, I never offered him any money.”

Obi disclosed this during an interactive session with the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE), held in Lekki, Lagos State.
