Ijero Ekiti in Ekiti State South West of Nigeria was agog with various songs of praises rendering the air as the members of the Ijero Decendants Association Texas in the United States of America were on ground to give back to the society especially to Ijero indigenes.
The needy and less privilegedes in the town was the target of their program tagged “Give Back To The Community Project”.
This event was part of the on going reunion event in the town called “ITA AJERO” which was ceremonially organized by the 15 members of the association under the strong, energetic and able leadership of their president, OmoOba Toyin Oke, who are all residents in the United States of America.
Cash gift was given to many students of the town as a scholarship scheme, widows of the town where not left out of the scheme as food items was also distributed out to them.
The beneficiaries were all full of gratitude as they all prayed fervently for the members of the association and Ijero town in general.
The association has also promised that many other laudable projects are in the pipeline for the community. “You ain’t seeing nothing yet” was the word of the association’s president, Toyin Oke who used her American slang to speak to our correspondent in Ijero.
