Famous singer, Peter Okoye of the defunct music group, P-Square has denied the allegation by his twin brother, Paul that he is the one behind the legal issues that have led to their elder brother and former manager, Jude Okoye’s current predicament.
Peter Okoye a.k.a MrP, made the denial in a statement by his manager, Emem Kush, said; “I don’t know Peter is on this issue. And I don’t think he has any comment on this issue.”
“The case is between the EFCC, based on their investigation, and Jude Okoye. I don’t see how Peter Okoye has anything to do with it. We have no comment on this matter. Peter didn’t drag anybody to the EFCC. The petition was against the company that has been receiving funds on his behalf. And he knew nothing about it. Don’t mix up issues, and let’s not create issues where they are not.”
“The EFCC was the one that received all of this, so I think it’s best to speak to them to know the facts of the case, and their findings. I don’t represent the EFCC. I’m not spokesman for the EFCC. I’m not spokesman for either party, so I can’t tell you.”
For those who don’t know, Jude Okoye is facing charges related to money laundering involving ₦1.38 billion, $1 million, and £34,537.59. He was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Wednesday, February 26, 2025.
Jude Okoye, along with his company Northside Music Ltd, faces a seven-count charge. The case is being heard before Justice Alexander Owoeye of the Federal High Court in Lagos. Jude pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
As the legal proceedings continue, Jude was remanded in the Ikoyi correctional facility after Justice Owoeye rejected a request to have him held in EFCC custody. The court will consider his bail application in the coming days.
