The presidential election result reeled out by the Chairman of the Independent National Electorate Commission (INEC), Mahmood Yakubu on Wednesday, March 1st 2023 has been greeted with mixed reactions from Nigerians.
For those who don’t know, Yakubu on Wednesday declared Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as winner of the Saturday, February 25th, 2023 presidential election, defeating his closest contenders, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party candidate, Peter Obi.
According to the result by INEC, Tinubu polled a total of 8,794,726 while Atiku and Obi scored 6,984,520 and 6,101,533 respectively.
However, Nigerian music star, Peter Okoye of the famous music group, P-Square, who is a die-hard supporter of Peter Obi, following the INEC’s result, took to his Twitter page and wrote;
“Dear H.E @PeterObi your mandate can only be delayed, but cannot be denied.”
“Please, my fellow obedient, be calm, we live to fight another day, so please embrace peace.”
“Let’s all allow the right people of the law to handle the case. Thank you Nigerians.”
Besides, there are rumours of plans for a massive protest across the country over the results released by the INEC which Nigerians believed are different from what played out at the polling units across the nation on Saturday.
