The maiden edition of the annual Oluomo pageant kicked off in Ijero at the weekend.
The event which will be held annually in August as part of the event complementing the Ijero Ekiti annual Ogun festival was solely financed and sponsored by Chief Olusesan Arowolo, the Oluomo of Ijero Kingdom, a great philanthropist and owner of the popular Heritage Confectionary the biggest and most populous African restaurant in Dublin the Republic of Ireland.
This pageant is part of the event under the Olusesan David Arowolo Foundation, a foundation which has been bringing smiles and succor to the lives of several people in Ijero Ekiti and Ijero local government in general.The foundation has assisted several indigent parents and their wards in payment of school fees and other benefits including medicals and housing.
The annual beauty pageant was gorgeously graced by young and beautiful damsels from ijero who appeared radiant as they walk the runway showcasing the beauties of Ijero Ekiti before the panel of judges and other spectators who were in attendance. This included the executive members of the popular Diamond Club of Ijero Ekiti.
Chief Arowolo who is popularly known and called “Oluomo of the Universe” because of his unprecedented philanthropic life style used the occasion of the event to speak to the contestants and the people of Ijero that the annual event has come to stay and will be improved upon with the prizes increasing every year.
The highlight of the event was it’s uniqueness where not only the winer smiled home with her star prize, all the contestants were also compensated by the sponsor Oluomo.
“With this pageant and other laudable projects my foundation has started,we are taking Ijero town to the next level where it will be one of the most sorted after towns in Ekiti state and in Nigeria” Oluomo retorted while speaking with our reporter.
