All is now set for the 2023 edition of the glamourous annual Iwaji Akokwa (Akokwa new year festival).
For a richer and more colorful and result-oriented event, Dr. (Ambassador) Obinna Okpara (Nmirioma) has been appointed by the traditional ruler of the Akokwa ancient kingdom, Eze (Sir) Ikenna Okoli, KSC, (Okoli V) (Agbarakwuriibe 111) The 11th Obi of Akokwa, as the Ozo ji 2023 (overseer of the new year festival).
His appointment was contained in a letter dated July 11, 2023, and addressed to him.
The Akokwa monarch in the letter to Dr. Okpara said; “it pleases me greatly to inform you that the palace has found you worthy to be appointed the Ozo ji for the 2023 new year festival”.
Dr. Okpara, a renowned philanthropist who has impacted positively on the lives of many through scholarships and other humanitarian works sits atop many companies as Chairman/Managing Director.
These include Ron Logistics and supporting services LIMITED, Zuriel Gold link pharmaceuticals limited, and Headstone Agro Allied Ltd among others.
Meanwhile, HRM, Eze Okoli is inviting Nigerians from all walks of life to the annual cultural festival holding on Friday, the 25th of August, 2023, at the People’s Palace, Akokwa.
In a press release he personally signed, the monarch said: “Once again, it is that time of the year when we have reason to gather together to celebrate the end of another farming season. In that vein, I, on behalf of the Obi-in-Council, traditional chiefs, and the Obi’s cabinet, cordially invite you to the 2023 Akokwa new yam festival.”
“Please join us as we thank the Almighty God through this auspicious ceremony for a productive and successful farming year.”
