LASU Best Graduating Student Gets House, N2 Million From Gov. Dapo Abiodun

These are the best of times for Oladimeji Shotunde, an indigene of Ogun State as the state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has dolled out a two-bedroom bungalow and N2 million to him for emerging the overall best graduating student of Lagos State University (LASU).

Governor Dapo Abiodun made the announcement on Thursday, April 22, 2021 during a celebration of Ogun academic laureates 2021 in Abeokuta.

For those who don’t know, Oladimeji Shotunde, 22 is a son of mechanic.

Oladimeji broke the university’s 37-year record to become the overall Best Graduating Student of the 2018/2019 academic session, with the highest CGPA (4.95) in the University’s history.

The Governor also took to his Instagram page and wrote; “With a sense of pride today, we honoured dedication to academic excellence by recognising, and presenting awards and prizes to, outstanding students and teachers in our dear State.”

“The Ogun State Government launched an endowment fund for Miss Faith Odunsi who topped the Global Open Mathematics Competition. The fund, which is seeded with 5million Naira and subsequent, voluntary donations from the private sector. Mr Oladimeji Shotunde too, an indigene of Ogun State who recently emerged Best Graduating Student of the Lagos State University, was awarded a 2-bedroom bungalow and a 2million Naira cash prize.”

“As I presented these prizes to them and other outstanding students and their teachers, I pledged the unwavering support of our Government to excellence in conduct and academics.”
