There is jubilation in the home of the immediate past Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdurasheed Bawa over his release.
For those who don’t know, Bawa was released on Wednesday night, October 25th, 2023, five months after his detention.
Recall that Bawa was arrested by the Department of State Service (DSS) on June 14, 2023, and this came hours after his suspension as EFCC Chairman by President Bola Tinubu over alleged abuse of office.
Interestingly, President Tinubu on October 12, 2023 appointed Olanipekun Olukoyede as the new EFCC Chairman.
However, Olukoyede’s appointment was confirmed by the Senate on October 18, 2023.
