Residents of Isolo, Ejigbo, Mushin, Oke-Afa and environs have heave a sign of relief as expansion of Ejigbo-Isolo-Mushin area which motion was moved year ago have been approved.
The motion was sponsored by a lawmaker representing Oshodi-Isolo constituency 2, Honourable Ganiyu Johnson.
In a statement, Honourable Johnson said the road when completed will reduce traffic gridlock on that axis, which in turn will contribute to economic growth of the Constituency, and Lagos in general.
It also adds that the road which was constructed in the 70s, is a major road connecting the Mainland of Lagos to Isolo and spans through Isolo, Mushin, Oshodi/Apapa Expressway, Ajao Estate via Airport road.
The project which was awarded to a Construction Company is aimed to be completed in the next twenty months to boost economic activities within the Constituency and also add to the GDP of the state.
While filing the motion for the expansion of the road, Honourable Johnson also sponsored the motion for the dredging of Oke-Afa Canal, which he reiterated his commitment that the contractor will move to site before the completion of the road expansion project.
The lawmaker expressed optimism that the dredging of Oke-Afa canal will reduce the congestion at various ports and contribute to the country’s economic growth.
Commending Honourable Johnson, Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives for the feat, assured the constituents that the appropriate ministry will be mobilized to commence the dredging project.
