Former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu has been sentenced to nine years and eight months in prison.
A UK court on Friday, May 5th, 2023 pronounced the judgement on Ekweremadu for plotting to harvest a man’s kidney for his sick daughter.
Similarly, his wife, Beatrice Ekweremadu was handed four years and six months sentence while Obinna Obeta, a medical doctor equally got a 10 years’ sentence for the same offence.
It is interesting to know that Ekweremadu, his wife (Beatrice) and Obeta were convicted of conspiracy to arrange the travel of a young Nigerian man identified as David Nwamini to Britain in order to exploit him for his kidney.
For those who don’t know, the organ was needed for the lawmaker’s sick daughter, Sonia Ekeremadu.
