Information at our disposal has it that the suspended head of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT), DCP Abba Kyari has been arrested by the Nigerian police.
Sources told us that Kyari was arrested alongside four others on Monday, February 14th, 2022.
His arrest is coming moment after the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) declared him wanted over alleged drug links.
For those who don’t know, Kyari has been under investigation after the Federal Bureau of Investigation of the United States of America (USA) indicted him in the fraud case involving Ramon Abbas, popularly known as Hushpuppi.
According to NDLEA’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, Kyari belonged to a drug cartel that operates the Brazil-Ethiopia-Nigeria illicit drug pipeline.
NDLEA revealed that Kyari contacted one of its officers in Abuja and struck a deal to secure the release of a total of 25kg seized cocaine.
The NDLEA said; “After the Agency gave the officer the green light to play along, he and Kyari began a WhatsApp call for the rest of the day. The officer conveyed “their” willingness to play the game.”
