The crisis rocking Zamfara chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) following the suspension of the party state chairman, Col. Bala Mande is deepening as the party’s National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu is now exposed for a large scale bribery scandal.
According to sources, the party’s governorship aspirant , Dauda Lawal Dare gave Garba Bisu the sum of N150 million through a Nigerian bank to buy delegates, a transaction which is currently being investigated by the officials of the anti-corruption agencies to trace the source of the money.
Meanwhile, officials of the EFCC are investigating the matter which the agency considered as a case of money laundering.
Sources also disclosed that Dauda Lawal Dare allegedly gave out another sum of N300 million to the National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu to assist him secure the governorship ticket in Zamfara.
Following the suspension of the state party chairman who has been working with Dauda Lawal in the realization of his dream, the governorship aspirant demanded his N300 million back from the National Chairman.
The pressure with which Dauda Lawal Dare pursued the recovery of the money has now forced the National Chairman to send a delegation of the National Working Committee (NWC) to go to Zamfara to reconcile the aggrieved members of the state Working Committee (SWC), to cover up the bribery scandal.
The National Chairman also ordered the delegation to set up a caretaker committee for the party in the state.
However, Dauda Lawal is demanding for the national chairman to constitutes a new party structure for to enable him secure the ticket.
It may be recall that the state party Chairman, Col Bala Mande (rtd.) was suspended this week following his anti party activities including collecting money to sabotage the election process.
