Two days ago, operatives of Amotekun Corps in Oyo State intercepted a truck loaded with scores of youths from the North travelling to Ondo State.
It was gathered that the vehicle was conveying over 100 youths packed in the truck which reportedly took off from Zamfara State.
The interception reportedly caused panic among the people in the area, who believed that those arrested are terrorists or bandits.
But a statement signed by Ibrahim Dosara, the Honorable Commissioner of Information
Zamfara State on Thursday, August 4th, 2022, he said; “The attention of Zamfara State Government was drawn to an incident in Oyo state, where a truck load of 147 Zamfara indigenes travelling to Ondo to pursue their legitimate business enterprises in that state, was on Tuesday August 2nd, 2022 intercepted by security agencies along Iyana Bodija – Iso Pako road in Ibadan.”
“In its commitment to ensuring safety and welfare of its citizens anywhere, the state government swiftly waded into the matter by contacting various security agencies in the two states of Oyo and Ondo to ensure that none of the travelling innocent persons is harmed.”
“The state government is therefore happy to inform the general public, particularly families and relations of the travelling passengers that, after security investigations on both the truck and the persengers, there was no any incriminating items found with them and are all released unharmed.”
“Zamfara state government therefore thanked the security agencies in the two states for carrying out their jobs in accordance with the laws of the land and urged other security outfits in the southern parts of this country to copy from the Oyo state security agencies, in the interest of peace and tranquility of this nation.”
