The record of the longest cooking by an individual set by Nigeria’s Hilda Effiong Bassey, popularly known as Hilda Baci has finally been confirmed by the Guinness World Records.
The announcement was made on Tuesday, June 13th, 2023.
The Guinness World Records in a statement on its website, said; “Following a thorough review of all the evidence, Guinness World Records can now confirm that Hilda Effiong Bassey, better known as Hilda Baci, has officially broken the record for the longest cooking marathon (individual), with a time of 93 hours 11 minutes.”
Recall that Chef Baci began her cooking on Thursday May 11th to Monday May 15th, 2023. She cooked over 100 pots of food during her four-day kitchen stint.
She tried to set a record of 100 hours, but about seven hours were deducted from her final total, reason being that she mistakenly took extra minutes for one of her rest breaks.
