Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Bamike Olawunmi, popularly known as Bambam, has made a shocking and emotional revelation about her experience during childbirth.
She revealed that many stillbirths are caused by negligence, whether from an unqualified doctor, a nurse not performing her duties properly, or delays in getting to the hospital on time.
Reflecting on her experience, she said; “During my first labor, my kidney failed, my heart was weak, and my liver was shutting down because of the strain of childbirth. My daughter had detached from the placenta. If I had been even a second late to the hospital, she would have lost oxygen, and I could have had a stillbirth.”
She went on to express the emotional toll this experience had on her.
“Every time I look at her, I just think, ‘What if?’ The ‘what ifs’ tormented me. They haunted me for a while, and even now, just thinking about it makes me nervous. I had to go through therapy to help me process all those feelings and learn to be grateful for her life.”
