Nollywood Yoruba actor, Olarenwaju James popularly known as Baba Ijesha is now set to appear in court after allegedly raping a 14years old girl since she was 7years.
According to Lagos State Government, Baba Ijesha, if found guilty of the crime may be sentenced to prison.
Baba Ijesha was arrested by the Lagos Police Command after he was seen in a CCTV footage sexually abusing the 14-year-old girl who happened to be famous comedian, Princess’ foster daughter.
However, the Lagos State Government in a statement on Tuesday May 4, 2021 advised the state Police Command to charge Baba Ijesha, to court over the sexual abuse allegation against him.
The Directorate of Public Prosecutions gave the advice and revealed that Baba Ijesha may be sentenced to life imprisonment if found guilty in court.
The statement which was signed by the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in Lagos, Hon. Moyosore Onigbanjo (SAN) reads in part;
“The charges include;
- Section 135 – Indecent treatment of a child – punishable by 7 years imprisonment
- Section 137 – Defilement of a child – punishable by life imprisonment
- Section 261 – Sexual Assault by Penetration – punishable by life imprisonment
- Section 262 – Attempted Sexual Assault by Penetration – punishable by 14 years imprisonment and
- Section 263 – Sexual assault – punishable by 3 years imprisonment.”
