Nigerian Afrobeat star, Femi Kuti has revealed to Nigerians what he went through after his dad, Fela Anikulapo Kuti died.
Femi, who is the first son of the Africa’s music legend recounted how he was told that he and eleven other members of his family will die shortly after the deaths of his father, his sister and his cousin.
He said: “Fela had just died. My sister, Shola had gone. My cousin had gone. Some people were predicting that 12 of us would die. And I was saying, is this prediction going to come true?”
“We had our internal family problems. They would say, ‘You know, you are the first son; you must do it.’ And I would say, ‘Who born me inside this wahala like this?’ Then my wife separated from me. And they said, ‘Femi is going mad.’ It was terrible.”
“I am thankful for the experience, it made me who I am today.”
