Nollywood star actress, Halima Abubakar, has gone on her bended knees to beg popular Nigerian pastor, Apostle Johnson Suleman of Omega Fire Ministries for spreading falsehood against him.
The actress tendered her apology in a letter she addressed to the man of God, seeking his forgiveness.
The letter which she also shared on her Instagram page, reads; “I admit that I made false allegations against you and also regret my action and the damage I caused to you, your wife, Dr Lizzy Suleman, your family and the leaders of the Omega Fire Ministry.”
“With this letter, I humbly ask for forgiveness, recognising that my apology cannot undo the harm, pain and distress I caused and I ask you to find a place in your heart to forgive me as I was not thinking right then.”
“I’m truly sorry for all the hurts and distress I caused you, your family and ministry.”
For those who don’t know, Halima Abubakar had in January 2023 accused Apostle Suleman of impregnating her. She claimed she got pregnant for the man of God thrice.
Hear her; “I did not know Apostle Johnson Suleman was married. He told me he was separated. I used to beg him to go and settle with his wife but he said No.”
“He proposed to me more than seven times. He involved my parents and met them for introduction.”
“The blood never stopped and he was still having sex with me like that. I didn’t read any meaning to it because I wasn’t a spiritual person and he used to have sex with me during my period so I thought it was normal.”
“When I lost it, he was crying that I lost his child. You will think that it was real. I got pregnant three times, the last one left me bleeding, I had to take a tablet for it to stop.”
“I was bleeding for four years. He was sleeping with me even while I was bleeding, that is the dangerous part of it and he was telling me he can’t sleep with anybody, it was okay because it is me.”
“The whole thing caught me unaware, I was naive and was not a spiritual person. I did not know if it was love.”
“These are some of the pictures Suleman and I snapped together at a hotel on Valentine’s Day. He even sent me some of his personal pictures.”
“He was 41 years old at the time. I have a printout of the bank transactions between us.”
However, Apostle Suleman, reacting to her claims, ordered his lawyers to file a N1 billion suit on her for defamation.
His lawyers, Ephesus Lex Attorneys and Solicitors dragged the actress before Justice. J. Enobie Obanor of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
He asked the court to direct the actress to publish a retraction of her defamatory statements posted on her Instagram handle and on several online blogs and newspapers.
He also asked the court to compel Halima to pay for the deletion of all links and reportage of the said defamatory comments on all platforms on the internet.
Suleman also demanded the sum of N1 billion as aggravated and exemplary damages for libel, an order of perpetual injunction restraining her from further publishing or causing to be published the said or similar defamatory statements.
He also demanded that Halima be made to pay the sum of N20 million for legal fees.
