Von Blake, a fast-rising music star is causing an upset in the music scene with a chart-bursting single, “On a Sunday” which he dropped recently. An Engineer, Blake veered into music in obedience to a lifetime passion. He was discovered, nurtured and promoted by Zeof Records, an indigenous music company dedicated to helping young, talented upcoming music stars harness their musical potential and careers.
Aside from “On a Sunday”, Von Blake has to his credit other equally wave-making singles namely Tom Tom Waist, Fine Fine Caro, and A New Sound among others.
A master in his field, Von Blake is fast making inroads into the international music scene through his participation in international music events and inching towards international stardom. The young music artist and INVICTUS came 3rd in the Spanish/Nigeria musical competition held on the 24th of March 2023. The international musical event which featured 2000 Nigerian artists was organized by the Spanish Embassy in Nigeria.
Von Blake whose real name is Dilinna Blake Ezeofor did not stroll into music. Music found him as a kid in primary school and ever since then has not looked back. Growing up, Von Blake knew that the pull and allure of music would be irresistible. It was not, therefore, a surprise that even as a graduate of Civil Engineering, he has stuck with music.
He is proverbially wedded to music for which divorce is a distant dream. With music-loving parents as role models, growing up, music was simply a way of life for Blake.
Said Blake: As kids, I and my siblings formed dance routines to songs we composed ourselves. It gave us great joy because we didn’t like lessons or doing chores.
“Even in church I was in a dance group, so performing has always been in my blood. And also I was a mass server, that’s where I first learnt synchronization and syncopation with other performers”
A singer, songwriter and composer, Blake’s love for music blossomed throughout his academic pursuit. In secondary school, for example, he teamed up with like minds in his class to form the musical group, INVICTUS.
Von Blake is optimistic about his future and music career. According to him, “The future of my music career is bright… I see myself in the next five years impacting a wide range of people and generation after generation to come identifying with my music irrespective of their colour, tribe or race”
High Chief (Barrister) Jideofor Ezeofor, the Chairman/CEO of Zeof Records said his commitment to nurturing young music talents is unwavering hence Zeof has over the years threaded where other music companies and promoters fear to thread. Even at the risk of personal financial loss, Barrister Ezeofor has continued to sponsor music shows which is one of the avenues talented upcoming musicians are discovered.
His words: “We will continue to hunt and discover young music talents and then, build them, grow them, support them, promote them until they become superstars. At Zeof, we are committed to helping young, upcoming music artists hone their talents.”
“Zeof Records supports artists by organizing music shows that will show the craft of different artists, both artists under Zeof Records management and other artists from different managements.”
“It is a platform to expose artists to the world. Sponsorship of music shows is very challenging, most companies shy away from sponsorship of music shows, which is wrong because from shows artists’ performances are showcased.”
