President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the Dozie family, the business community, and all Nigerians following the death of Chief (Dr.) Pascal Gabriel Dozie, a prominent elder statesman, entrepreneur, and banker. He was 85 years old.
Chief Pascal Dozie, OON, was a visionary whose immense contributions shaped Nigeria’s economic landscape. As the founder of Diamond Bank and the pioneering Chairman of MTN Nigeria, he played a key role in transforming two of Nigeria’s most significant sectors: banking and telecommunications.
A staunch believer in Nigeria’s potential, Chief Dozie was instrumental in developing the financial services industry and expanding mobile connectivity across the nation. His influence extended far beyond corporate leadership, impacting national policy and development.
In addition to his business achievements, Chief Dozie held several key positions, including serving as a former director at the Central Bank of Nigeria, President of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, and Chairman of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group. His work in these roles contributed significantly to national policy, private sector growth, and youth empowerment.
President Tinubu described Chief Dozie as “a rare breed of business leader, whose wisdom, humility, and pioneering spirit laid the groundwork for many to follow. His passing marks a profound loss to both the private sector and Nigeria at large.”
The President prayed for the peaceful repose of Chief Dozie’s soul and extended his condolences to his wife, children, and extended family. He urged the Nigerian private sector to honor Chief Dozie’s memory by upholding the values of integrity, innovation, and nation-building that defined his legacy.
