Nigerian music star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has landed himself in trouble.
The Afrobeats star has been attacked by Nigerians for saying that the country’s economy is in shambles.
This is after Davido, fondly known as Omo Baba Olowo had in a recent interview in the US advised the black Americans particularly Nigerians not to return home because of the nation’s current economic woes.
According to him; “It is not cool back home. The economy is in shambles”.
His remark came, following speculations that some black Americans are considering leaving United States of America (USA) following the victory of Donald Trump as the new US president.
However, the singer’s remark has received a lot of backlashes; thus, he has been strictly advised to retract his statement.
All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Joe Igbokwe, in his reaction via his official Facebook page, said; “My In-law Davido has made me sad by telling the world in America that Nigeria’s economy is in shambles.”
“This is very sad. I will advise him to retract the statement asap. Nigeria made Davido!!!”
In a similar fashion, ex-President Mohammadu Buhari’s former aide, Bashir Ahmed, in a post on his official X handle, said; “Selling out your country from foreign soil is so disappointing and unpatriotic. Public figures like Davido should know that.
“They should act and be seen as good ambassadors for Nigeria wherever they find themselves.”!
