Federal Lawmaker, Alex Ikwechegh In Hot Soup

Federal House of Representatives member from Abia State, Alex Ikwechegh is in big trouble for assaulting a Bolt driver at his residence in Abuja recently.

Despite apologizing for his misconduct, the lawmaker is now meant to face justice. This, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) assured Nigerians.

The Police, in the development vowed to ensure that the bolt driver, Stephen Abuwatseya who was assaulted by Ikwechegh in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) gets justice.

The NPF stated this in a post on its official Facebook page on Wednesday morning.

It reads in part; “The Nigeria Police Force has commenced an impartial investigation into the matter and wishes to reaffirm its commitment and readiness to ensure justice is served accordingly”.

Besides, information at our disposal also has it that the lawmaker would be arraigned before the Kuje Magistrate Court on Wednesday afternoon.

Popular human rights lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, disclosed this in a statement.

He said; “We are on our way to Kuje Magistrate Court for the arraignment of the honourable member who assaulted our client, Mr. Steven, a Bolt driver. The IGP’s Special Investigation Unit (SIU) is in charge of the investigation and prosecution.”

“The media is invited to cover the arraignment, which is scheduled for 12 pm today at Kuje Magistrate.”

For those who don’t know, the lawmaker representing Aba North and South Federal Constituency in Abia State was exposed in a viral video where he physically assaulted the bolt driver.

According to the driver, he said he got a request to deliver a package to the lawmaker at his residence in Zamfara Crescent, Maitama, Abuja on the 27th October where and when the incident occurred.

The video of the lawmaker assaulting the bolt driver has thus gained reactions from concerned Nigerians who are demanding justice for the bolt driver.
