The crisis in the Labour Party (LP) has taken another dimension.

Just recently, the embattled National Chairman of the party, Julius Abure, left many Nigerians in shock over his allegation.

Abure, claimed that Aisha Yesufu and Pastor Itua Ighodalo embezzled the Labour Party’s 2023 campaign fund. This came after rumours had it that he (Abure) mismanaged the party’s funds.

However, reacting to Abure’s allegation, Aisha Yesufu, without further ado, took to her X page, formerly Twitter and lambasted the party chairman.

She wrote; “Julius Abure thinks we are still in 1980 where one can lie shamelessly without being fact-checked.”

She also posted a video on her X handle where she spoke explicitly on the matter. See the video below…

For those who don’t know, this is what Abure said; “Aisha Yesufu and Pastor Itua Ighodalo were signatories to LP 2023 campaign funds and not the party as widely speculated.”

“The party was never involved in the distribution of those resources. Our interest was to see how we could produce a president for the party. How it was done was not our concern.”

“Hence, we gave them free rein. We allowed them to entrust their resources to whomever they wanted. We followed them loyally by allowing them to administer the campaign funds.”

“Regarding donations, the party was not involved in collecting any campaign donations; they were channelled to accounts opened for campaign purposes, with Aisha Yesufu and Pastor Itua Ighodalo as the signatories.”

“They were also responsible for payments to polling unit agents. The party did not handle the payments to the agents.”
