Nigerian musician, Chinedu Okonkwo, professionally known as ChizzyAce, is set to take the music industry by storm. The Anambra State-born singer, has assured his teeming fans to expect back-to-back bangers from him.
The musician, in an interview with famouspeople.com.ng, said if he is given the opportunity, he would love to collaborate with the likes of Flavour, Phyno, Olamide, Davido, Patoranking and Burna Boy.
He also told us that he has worked with Oritse Femi, Destiny Boy and several others. He equally took turns to talk about his new song “KOBO” set to release on September 1st, 2024. Excerpts…
Tell us about yourself
My name is Chinedu Okonkwo, also known as ChizzyAce. I’m originally from Nnewi South Local Government Area in Anambra State, but I live and run my business in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
How did music begin for you?
Music is life, and it has always been my passion. I’ve been drawn to it since childhood.
What was your childhood dream?
As a musician, my dream has always been to use my music to convey meaningful messages and to reach stardom.
Are you a full-time musician?
Yes, I am a full-time musician and self-employed.
Can you say you are fulfilled as a musician?
I wouldn’t say I’m fulfilled just yet. Until I reach my peak, there’s still more to achieve.
We learnt you are also a Song Writer, tell us do you write your songs yourself?
Yes, I write all my songs myself.
How did you come up with the stage name ‘ChizzyAce’?
There are many ‘Chizzy’s out there, so I added ‘Ace’ to stand out from the crowd.
What motivates you as a musician?
It started in primary school when I was often chosen to lead worship and praise at assembly. I’ve loved entertainment and art since I was a child.
Who is your role model?
Olamide, Flavour, and Davido.
What is your dream as a musician?
My main goal is to be a successful artist who stands out and creates music that positively impacts lives.
How would you describe your type of music?
I do Highlife and Afropop, but I’m also versatile.
How many songs have you released?
I’ve released over 15 songs.
Do you have an album?
Yes, I released my first album in 2021, and another one is on the way.

I’ve worked with Oritse Femi, Destiny Boy, and several others.

In the next 5years, I see myself at the top. With consistent effort, I believe I’ll be one of the most sought-after artists, not just in Nigeria, but across Africa and the world.
Tell us about your new hit song, “KOBO,” set to launch on Sunday, September 1st
“KOBO” is a personal motivation. It’s about working hard and not relying on anyone, not even for a kobo. My help comes from God.
