Finals of the annual Federal Housing Authority, FHA, Festac, Lagos Sports Club Tournament held Saturday, 25th of May 2024 amid display of skill and raw talent by the competitors.
Soley Sponsored by Captino Global Concepts Ltd in conjunction with Rodis Togo, the tournament which commenced in March peaked with winners and runners up in different sports categories going home with various prizes including water dispensers, microwaves, blending machines, standing fans among others. Hon Clement Anyika, Chairman/CEO of Global Concept Ltd was on hand to hand the prizes to the winners.
The event which held at the Club’s mini indoor stadium featured competitors in different indoor sporting events including Lawn Tennis, Table Tennis, draught, white, swimming among others.
In the Lawn Tennis Doubles category, the duo of Ekene Okekearoh and Ifeanyi Ikejiaku outshined the duo and Innocent Ezemo and Ebere Ucheoma to emerge victorious.
In singles category, Ekene Okekearoh out played Ben Nwosu to come first.
Ndubuisi Nwojiji triumphed over Adolfus Otigba to come first in the swimming competition while Hon. Irohzuru Augustine (AUSCA) beat Uche Ugochinyere to the second position in the Whot event.
In the Table Tennis category, Azubuike Okonkwo vanguished Innocent Ezemo to come tops while in the draught competition, Steve Okafor outwitted Ralph Obi Odunukwe to come first.
Ebere Ucheoma squared up against Ceaser Osubu in the Veteran category with the former coming first.
Speaking, President of the Club, Hon. Irohzuru expressed delight at the success of the tournament. He disclosed that the Club started in 1978 and has ever since remained a source of fitness for all its members.
According to the FHA Sport Club President, the club has a place for children in its sporting activities, especially Table Tennis and Lawn Tennis. “We have what we call Tennis Clinic; it a process by which we train school children in tennis, groom them to be champions.The clinic hold every summer holiday and it attracts children in Festac, Amuwo Odofin and their environs.The Tennis clinic has groomed many players who have gone ahead to compete and won laurels at the national stage”, Hon Irohzuru said.
Described as a convivial club of like minds and mini- Nigeria with Nigerians of diverse religion, ethnicity and culture as members, the FHA sports club which has the Chairman of the Young Shall Grow Motors, Chief Obianodo, as a grand patron boast ofover 300 active members.
The club started as FHA Lawn Tennis Tournament but was later renamed FHA sports club following the inclusion of other sports including swimming, Table Tennis, draught etc into the competition.
The Tournament was round off with sumptuous meals and wines also sponsored by Global Concept Ltd.
