Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has refused to retire from his presidential ambition as he vowed to keep contesting for the office of the president as long as he is alive.

Atiku, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate in the previous election, revealed this in an interview recently.

He said: “As regards if I will contest again, of course, I will keep contesting again and again as long as I am alive and healthy.”

“Even the former US President Abraham Lincoln contested seven times before finally winning.”

“However, given the current state of the PDP, it is clear that a single-handed effort will not suffice to win the election. Strong support and collaboration with other parties are required.”

His assertion has, however, raised questions and doubt by some Nigerians as they echoed that by the time the next presidential election will be conducted in 2027, Atiku Abubakar will be 81years.

It is noteworthy that Atiku has run for the presidency six times. However, he was on the ballot as a presidential candidate on three occasions; 2007, 2019 and 2023.
